Preparing Your Home for Pest Control Treatment

Heritage Real Estate Advisors LLC has partnered with Howe Pest Management, LLC for regular preventative pest treatments on the properties we manage. Howe Pest Management, LLC believes the most effective pest control occurs when a customer and a licensed technician work together to reduce and eliminate pests from their home, business and property. We ultimately need you to partner with us to achieve the results you desire.

Here is a list of things YOU can do as you prepare for your pest control service:

  • Cleanliness – it is recommended that you clean before pest control service is performed, not after. Once a treatment is applied to surfaces of your home, it will provide a residual that will help reduce and eliminate pests. Having clean surfaces can help increase the efficacy of the treatment.
  • Provide adequate interior access – pests will often harbor in dark places, in tight corners, i n and around stored items, underneath furniture, and i n cracks and crevices. If possible, please move furniture and other items away from walls, including shoes in closets.
  • Provide adequate exterior access – just as pests can harbor in tight spaces and in cluttered areas inside a home, pests seem to thrive when landscaping, bushes and grass are overgrown near and around a home. Please keep grass mowed, trees and landscaping trimmed, leaves raked and removed, and please keep stored items from piling up near the house’s exterior.
  • Food items – all food items should be stored in the refrigerator, freezer, kitchen cabinets and or in air-tight containers. Any cookware that normally sits on the kitchen countertops should be stored or covered appropriately.
  • Pets – confine pets to the yard, in a kennel, or in a separate room so your pest control technician can work safely during his/her visit. Please remove any pet food and water dishes from the treatment area. As a best practice, it is recommended that all pet-food be stored in air-tight containers. Please allow the pesticide treatment to dry before letting your pet back in the treated area.
